Peristeam Therapy
What is PERISteam HYDROTHERAPY?
Steam is an ancient technology, dating back to the 12th century, that was used by midwives, herbalists and folk doctors to treat infections, uterine dysfunction and postpartum recovery. Over the centuries, other historical medical records show many civilizations using steam to support general pelvic health and reproductive conditions - from the Caribbean islands, Pan-Asia and Polynesia to Africa, Europe and Native America.

Peristeam Hydrotherapy (aka perineal/pelvic steaming, water vapor therapy, fumigation) is now clinically practiced in modern Chinese, Korean, South Asian and European integrative medical systems. It is also practiced at many birth centers and heavily researched by the Steamy Chick Institute for two decades thru evidence based reporting and experiential application.
The only medical interventions offered for reproductive health in the US are prescription drugs (hormone therapy) or invasive surgery, both of which cause side effects that can severely impact other bodily functions and organs. Peristeaming is a simple, gentle and naturopathic tool that goes right to the source with no negative side effects.
HOW IT WORKS
Many organs go through a self-cleansing process that requires water - the skin, bladder, colon, lungs, nasal canal and digestive system. The menstrual cycle is classified as a monthly uterine (or womb) cleanse that is blood and water dependent. This cleanse also happens to sync up with Earth's lunar phases, which controls the rise and fall of oceanic tides, water tables and fluids in our body.

Pelvic steaming improves the body’s natural ability to deep clean and heal chronic conditions by introducing warm water (nature’s greatest solvent and mover - think steam engine that lifts and expels!) into the small, narrow and complex channels and cells of the body that are otherwise hard to reach.

Steaming can be done anywhere - in the home or at a designated spa - and can be offered in tandem by such naturopathic practitioners as colon therapists, acupuncturists, birth workers, estheticians, somatic therapists, etc.
Peristeam Therapists are specifically trained to provide tutorials, custom steam plans and herbal formulas, effectively screen for contraindications and sensitivities, and offer tips for cycle care.
In some cases, steaming is not suggested or advised depending on the client's conditions. Beyond healing chronic conditions and advanced issues, steaming is a self-care practice that can be learned once and applied over a lifetime.
Benefits of steam
Pelvic Steaming naturally cleanses the reproductive organs, urinary tract and rectum, lower digestive system and blood cycles.
It increases heat & circulation, uterine function, ph balance, detoxification and wound healing. Herbal infusions carry medicinal properties into the canals to boost the cleaning process, clear stagnation, nourish the blood, and heal tissues faster. Steaming is also a safe, gentle and grounded way to effectively connect, release and heal from emotional, sexual or ancestral trauma.
